Where are classes held?
All classes are held in St Mary’s Centre, Caritas,Merrion Road, Dublin 4. Going towards the city centre it is on left just after the Tara Towers Hotel, entrance is through Elmpark development.(See map on the Contact page of this website for more information).
Do I need to bring anything?
Baby mats, fresh towels, oils and handouts are all provided. So you don’t need to bring anything to the class.
What should I wear to a baby massage / baby yoga class?
Wear something comfortable as we will be sitting on cushions on the floor. At the class you can take off your shoes so you can get really comfortable.
For Baby Yoga it is best to wear relaxed clothing like a tracksuit as we will be stretching and moving ourselves.
What should my baby wear?
Your baby can wear anything. A simple baby grow may be easier for you to take on and off. It is a good idea to bring a change of clothes for your baby.
My baby may need to feed /sleep during the class, what will I do?
Firstly please don’t worry if your baby needs to feed or sleep during the class. That is the reality of working with babies. Some people find that even if they rearrange feeds or nap times the baby will still need them at their usual time, so I recommend just coming along and seeing how much massage your baby will let you do. I will ensure you learn the strokes later or at the next class if you missed them.
I will miss one of the sessions, what will I do?
Don’t worry, I can go over the strokes you missed at the next class.
I have twins, how can I do baby massage on two babies?
Twins are really welcome to the class, I have had several mums with twins on my courses. However I feel it is best if you can bring someone with you such as your partner, parent or friend to massage one of the babies. As a Baby Massage Instructor I am not allowed massage other people’s babies. However with Baby yoga, as it is less intimate, I can work with one of the babies if you are happy for me to do so. Oh, and just to let you know, twins are just charged as one baby, not two.
My baby is very active, I am worried that he will not lie down for long.
There are a few options, firstly the baby can sit up for many of the strokes, often a baby really wants to be able to see where they are and who is there. Also we can use a lot of songs and nursery rhymes to engage active babies and I have toys in the room to help active babies.
Can I heat a bottle at the class?
Yes there is a facility to heat bottles at the class.
I’m feeling very low and not sure if I want to stay for coffee with lots of happy mothers.
Lots of mothers feel less than fantastic after they have a baby. The adjustment is huge whether it’s your first baby or your fifth. If you are feeling down you may be surprised that talking to other mothers is actually a support. The environment is non-competitive and nobody is there to win a perfect mother award! Also being handed a cup of real coffee and a fresh scone may be something you can enjoy.
I’ve heard I can claim back some of the cost of Baby Massage classes on my health insurance, is that true?
Yes, Quinn Direct Health Manager and Health Manager Gold members can claim back €100.
VHI Life Stage Choices and Company Plan Members can claim back €100.
Hibernian Aviva members can claim back €90.
