What is Baby Yoga?

Baby yoga is a beautiful way to celebrate your growing baby. It offers your baby lots of opportunities to stretch out and enjoy the freedom of movement and interaction both with you and the other babies in the group. It is a wonderful progression from Baby Massage as we invite the baby to be more involved and aware of their movement. It is a lively and fun class with numerous health benefits for baby and mother, as we do lots of stretches aimed at relieving stress in the mothers body also. It is suitable for babies aged between 4 – 10 months.

Benefits of Baby Yoga

  • The class is very lively, and all this activity will help your baby sleep more deeply
  • The exercises can be done at home, as a playful and nurturing time between you and your baby
  • All your baby’s bodily systems are stimulated, including the digestive and nervous systems
  • Gentle stretches for mums help to ease out tightness in the back, shoulders and hips as a results of lifting and carrying the baby
  • Alternative relaxed holds for carrying your baby are demonstrated which are great to use at home
  • The deep relaxation that is part of yoga helps parents cope with the stresses of early parenting
  • Furthermore it is often a revelation to mums to discover that they can relax deeply with their baby beside them and of course the baby benefits from being close to a relaxed and positive parent
  • Over coffee there is a great opportunity to chat with other parents and enjoy this rapidly changing time in your baby’s life

Baby Yoga Courses

Courses run over 5 consecutive weeks. The class lasts for 2 hours, which includes instruction followed by coffee and scones. The cost of the course is €150 which includes full handouts detailing all the moves and songs we use in the class. Classes are held in Caritas Centre on Merrion Road, Dublin 4. Class numbers are kept small.
